Case Study

“Everybody we’ve interacted with so far on the NETdepot team has been nothing but professional and great.”

Ryan O’Connor

Project Manager,
Baker Paint & Contracting Co.

Situation

Baker Paint & Contracting Co. (Baker Paint) is one of the few commercial painters involved in nearly all genres of the painting industry, including industrial, hospitality, restaurants, and automotive. The company has offices in both Tucker and Savannah, Georgia, and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021.

Despite Baker Paint’s enduring success, the business needed enterprise-level management and support of its in-house IT network and application infrastructure. The hardware it had was outdated and performed poorly. This
resulted in unreliable and slow application performance for the Baker Paint staff.

Project Manager at Baker Paint, Ryan O’Connor said, “Our servers were never properly maintaine. If we tried to update the hardware in our closet ourselves, it could easily cost us as much as $50,000. Additionally, we would have had to hire a full-time IT person to manage everything. That’s an expensive decision we didn’t want to make.”

That’s when NETdepot got involved.

“Since we don’t have a dedicated IT person on staff, it made a lot of sense for us to pass the baton to NETdepot to alleviate the strain on our internal resources,” said O’Connor. “Within a week of signing the contract, the NETdepot team gave us a high-level outline of their plan of action. Then they got to work.”

Solution

NETdepot architected a platform that enabled the scale and resiliency that Baker Paint needed as a growing business.

NETdepot also provided the following solutions to modernize Baker Paint’s IT environment:

  • Completed a full audit of Baker Paint’s hardware
  • Centralized licensing documentation
  • Executed a backup solution
  • Migrated Baker Paint’s data to a new VMware Cloud environment hosted in NETdepot’s off-site data center located in Atlanta
  • Implemented new Fortinet firewall devices at both Baker Paint’s location and the Atlanta data center
  • Installed a Layer 2 point-to-point connection from the Baker Paint office in Tucker to the Atlanta data center cloud
  • Conducted training for basic IT tasks, which are common pain points for Baker Paint’s staff
  • Performed remote infrastructure monitoring and management
  • Provided day-to-day support for the new IT infrastructure, including management and administration of all IT assets and resources

“The NETdepot team has done what they said they were going to do. They are always on schedule, and their customer service is top-notch.”

Benefits

Practical Training

Ryan appreciated the training that NETdepot provided. “Training has been great,” said O’Connor. “The NETdepot team answered all of our end-user questions so that we can handle simple fixes, which cuts down on support tickets.”

No Downtime

“In the past, we’ve had our system go down periodically,” said O’Connor. “Now we are experiencing no downtime, which translates into greater productivity
for our team.”

Superior Customer-First Focus

“Our previous provider gave us very poor customer service,” said O’Connor. “The NETdepot team is always there when we need them.”
